BROMBOROUGH will once again feature as the Headquarters for this year's Vauxhall Rally of Wales, the second round of the Mobil 1 British Rally Championship.

Pleased with last year's welcome reception from Bromborough's Village Hotel and the high level of local interest to the International status rally, organisers Caernarvonshire & Anglesey MC will also be rewarding Wirral rally fans with a double helping of the already popular Euro Wirral closed road Spectator Stages at New Brighton.

The Wallasey Motor Club run Euro Wirral stages, have in recent years been a feature of the end of the first day's action with competitors tackling the stages at night following a tough day in the North Wales forests. This year, starting at around mid-day on the first day of the rally, Friday, March 20, rally fans will be treated to an autograph session, followed by Competitors being flagged away from the official start ramp by the Mayor of Wirral and into two exciting stages at New Brighton all in daylight. The rally will then be taking in its usual tour around the North Wales forests, ending the first day with a return to New Brighton that evening for the familiar floodlit spectator stages.

Further exciting news is that Vauxhall also plan to unveil its new Astra rally car, a week after the launch of the road version of the new Astra. Vauxhall Motorsport Manager Mike Nicholson is hopeful that the car will be ready in time for a full competitive run on the event but if not, he says it will certainly feature as the official course car.

In the meantime those who have any previous experience as a Rally Marshal and wish to register for the event, should contact Event Chief Marshal Ian Winterburn on 348-1146.

Wallasey Motor Club also hold their annual Dinner Dance and Prize Presentation at Hoylake's Kings Gap Hotel on Saturday, February 28. Guest speaker is the BBC Top Gear presenter Tony Mason.
