NEW Brighton, lying third from top in the Thwaites League North Division One, continue their quest for promotion to the national stage, on Saturday, when they travel to take on Wigton.
Coach Laurie Connor was pleased with his team's performance against Tynedale, but felt New Brighton deserved a bigger winning margin. "I don't think they made one scoring chance which did not come from a penalty against us," said Connor.
"We improved our points difference by 19 in this game and I think we deserved more. We still have two games in hand over leaders Doncaster and I expect the lads to have built a better points difference than theirs by the time they come here in April."
Fourth-placed Middlesbrough lost at Bridlington, on Saturday, but Doncaster shaved a win at Macclesfield. Second-placed Widnes disposed of West Park Bramhope, leaving the position still desperately tight at the top of the table.
