LIVERPOOL Yacht Club had an 18-strong turn out for racing on the Mersey on Sunday, when there was some fine competition on a big tide.

Crusade of Dee, which once won the Sydney to Hobart race, took line honours in the CHS section. But the 63-footer, owned by West Kirby man Talbot Smith, dropped to eighth place on corrected times.

Leyland Morris, in Outrageous, won ahead of David Lee in Wave Sweeper and Richard Booth in Nod's New Car.

In the LBSA section, Mike Gray, in Sparkey, was edged out of first place by a 10 seconds margin by Doug McGarvie in Argo.
