SHAFTESBURY FC put on a brave performance in the Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday Soccer League Premier Division, beating Rock Ferry Social 5-2 in their fight to beat the drop. Lee Wharton, 2, Chris Moore, Mark Irvine and Matty Armitage were the scorers.

The only other game in the Premier saw Archers Social beat Woodchurch 4-1, with goals from Mark Devaney, John Duff and Clinton Ellis, 2.

In Division One, Higher Bebington RBL Rangers put eight past FC Turley's without reply, thanks to a Neil Twist hat-trick and two for Nick Scholes.
