CARLSBERG WEST CHESHIRE LEAGUE ROUND-UP by Ray Condliffe

STORK leapfrogged over opponents Heswall following their 3-1 win at Gayton Park, with first-half goals from Ian Dunroe, Lee Crowther and full-back Steve Wynne. Dominic Barrett replied for Heswall.

Second placed Ashville dominated matters on their visit to Mond Rangers, but had to come from behind to earn a draw after Karl Thomas and Kevin Patterson had built up a 2-0 advantage for the hosts. In tricky conditions, Nicky Welton and Alan McMahon brought the scores level.

Newton had an excellent away win, 4-2 at Merseyside Police, with Jamie Griffiths, 2, Matt Forshaw and Mike Povall on target. David Harvey and Neil Harrison replied.

Bromborough Pool's mini revival ended as visiting Christleton ran out clear 6-1 winners. Graham Jones, 2, John King, 2, Simon Peers and Colin Read did the damage.

Moreton's losing run stretches back to September and on Saturday they fell victim to Blacon YC, who had Paul Finch, 3, and Dale Edwards on target in a 4-0 victory.

Three days earlier, the Chester outfit had lost 3-0 to Poulton Victoria (Simon Lewis, 2, John Lucas). At the weekend, Vics represented Cheshire FA in the final of the Northern Counties Championship - and beat North Riding FA 3-1, with goals by Stu Jones, Nicky Dillon and Simon Lewis.

In Division Two, New Brighton (Robbie Gerrard, 2, Tim Gilbert) drew 3-3 with Vauxhall Res (Chris Adamson, Kevin Coles, Paul Ford).

Leaders Stork Reserves beat Upton AA 3-1, with the biggest threat to their title ambitions probably coming from General Chemicals, who beat Cammell Laird Reserves 5-2, with Mick Quigley firing a hat-trick, with further goals from Mark Vickers and Mark Cahill.
