WALLASEY ABC schoolboy Ben Keegan boxed on the prestigious Merseyside Fire Brigade-Irish Guards Tournament as a supporting contest - but what a contest!
Ben's opponent, Preston's Gordon Hall, had his unbeaten tag taken away. Ben had to pull out all the stops to outwit and outpoint clever Gordon. Keegan's left jab was the deciding factor.
The 1,000-plus audience at Everton Park Sports Centre gave both boys a standing ovation. Part of proceeds were in aid of the Roy Castle Cancer Appeal Fund.
