A FEAST of open rugby is promised on Sunday, when Birkenhead Park stage the North of England Schools' Sevens for the 10th successive year.

A total of 40 schools will be taking part, including first timers Hutton Grammar and Bloxham and guest side Christ College, Brecon. Locals taking part will be Wirral, Caldy, Birkenhead, Birkenhead Sixth Form College and St Anselm's.

Eight groups of five schools take part in the preliminary stages at Birkenhead School, St Anselm's and the Upper Park.

Guests will include Peter Brook, President of the RFU, and Capt. Mike Pearey, President of the England Schools' RFU.

Group winners go into the knock-out stages for the Bowring Trophy. Group runners-up contest the Boodle and Dunthorne Plate. Play starts 10am. Finals late afternoon on the main Upper Park pitch.
