A WEST KIRBY man accused of involvement in a violent incident outside a take-away restaurant has, along with another man, walked free from court.

Bahram Noorani, of Meadow Road, and Ali Bavar, of Liverpool, were due to stand trial at Liverpool Crown Court but the prosecution offered no evidence.

Mr Stuart Driver, prosecuting, explained that after the alleged incident on March 23 last year, a police identification parade was held.

However, the alleged teenage victim had gone to the restaurant premises in Marsh Lane, Bootle, the night before and saw the defendants there.

Consequently, because of this unsafe idenitification evidence, the Crown felt unable to proceed with the case and offered no evidence, said Mr Driver.

Noorani, 38, who had been accused of slashing John Cullinan across the face with a knife, was formally found not guilty of wounding with intent.

They were both discharged from the dock, and bound over to keep the peace for twelve months in the sum of (pounds)150.
