WIRRAL Direct has become the first section within the local authority to receive the Investors In People award.

The inward investment team for the Wirral Council achieved the quality standard in a record four months.

A key factor behind their success is the commitment to teamwork, a fact recognised by Frank Corfe, Chairman of Tranmere Rovers Football Club, who presented the award at a ceremony held at Egerton House in Birkenhead. He compared winning the award with the teamwork of a football club.

All nine of Wirral Direct's staff were keen to be involved with the initiative which focused on providing training and development to ensure everyone has the opportunity to update their skills.

Investors In People has also helped give direction to the team by helping them set clear business goals and develop a business plan. Business Link Wirral guided Wirral Direct through the Investors In People process from commitment to recognition.

Leader of Wirral Direct, David Hunt, said: "We know that the most valuable asset to any organisation are well trained employees who are working towards the achievement of business goals.

"The Investors In People award illustrates the commitment of both the organisation and our staff to achieving and providing a quality service."
