LIVERPOOL Blue Badge Guide, Brian King, paid a visit to Barnston WI to talk about The Ladies of the Staircase Window.
The window is in the Lady Chapel of the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and the nine ladies featured in it were chosen in the first decade of this century to be examples of women whose lives changed the world.
All except one lived in the 19th Century and four were missionaries of outstanding bravery and achievement. Grace Darling and Kitty Wilkinson, the founder of the Liverpool wash houses, are also commemorated.
The next WI meeting is Wednesday, March at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Sylvia Briercliffe, who will talk about 'The Good Life'.
