REDROW HOMES Northern Ltd has appealed to the Secretary of State against the failure of Wirral Council to allow residential development at Fender Farm, Fender Lane, Moreton.

The Council claims such a development is contrary to the Merseyside Structure Plan, which gives land in the M53 Corridor similar protection to Green Belt land.

The proposed housing site would intrude into the open landscape between Birkenhead and Moreton, and would involve loss of the riding school and stables which serve the local community, claims the council.

However, the Secretary of State has decided an appeal will be heard at public inquiry on Wednesday morning, June 24, in Wallasey Town Hall.

MORRIS Homes are building at Moreton Mere. The site, off Reeds Lane, will feature 111 properties with a 'European feel', says the developer.

Sales director Sue Hatch comments: "Because the site is close to the coast, we want to give the properties a beach-front feel, with steps leading to the front door, wrought iron railings and a continental balcony look." Prices range from £59,500 to £94,500.
