A TRIAL date has been fixed for six people accused of defrauding Cheshire County Council.

In the dock at Liverpool Crown Court were Margaret Rome, aged 43, of Mark Rake, Bromborough; John Hatton, 49, of Arnot Way, Higher Bebington; Dave and Jane Collins, both 54, of Llay near Wrexham; John Leech, 37, of Wrexham; and Keith Mather, 50, Tattenhall, Cheshire.

It is alleged that the six were involved in various conspiracies to defraud the council between 1985 and 1995.

All six were further remanded on bail until their expected six-month trial on January 25, 1999.
