A MOTHER who has campaigned for traffic-calming measures to be introduced on the road where her son died, is now spreading her campaign across Wirral following a number of fatal traffic accidents, writes Claire Ryan.
Pauline Fielding's son, Andrew, was killed on Chester High Road at Neston. Since then she has called for local authorities to improve safety on the road but has had no success.
There have recently been two more fatal accidents. Neston man Keith Blyth was killed on the A540, then schoolgirl driver Leigh Ibbotson, of Caldy, was killed in Telegraph Road, Thurstaston.
Mrs Fielding said: "Since Andrew's death I have been anxious that something is done on the road where he died. But on roads in general something needs to be done.
"I have been pushing my individual campaign for four years but am now trying to make the general public aware that they could be affected by traffic accidents. Too many families in Wirral have recently found this out."
Mrs Fielding has joined RoadPeace, a group which she was introduced to by another bereaved parent. RoadPeace gives practical advice to bereaved families and gives its opinions on how road safety should be improved.
