A MOTOR enthusiasts paradise, that's Doune Motor Museum, featuring collections from MG's to Rolls Royce and Bentley, writes Steve Hunter.

Scotland's premier collection of vintage, post vintage and classic cars, the museum is located in the beautiful Perthshire countryside just west of the ancient town of Doune, eight miles north-west of Stirling on the A84.

En route to a holiday in the Isle of Skye, I fell upon the Doune Motor Museum by chance, a signpost marked 'Motor Museum this way!' Being an enthusiast I couldn't let the opportunity pass me by.

A unique collection of vintage and post-vintage thoroughbred cars, the museum is open daily from April 1 to November 30, between 10am and 5pm. There are approximately 50 cars on display, including an eye catching BMW 328 (1938), Mercedes, Hispano-Suiza, Bentley, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Lagonda to the second oldest Rolls Royce in the world.

The MG collection is well worth a look. Attractions on show include the MG Two-Seater 2.5 litre, six cylinder 18/80 (1930) (pictured), MG J2 (1932), and MG TD 2 (1953).

Free ample parking, there is a gift shop, self service cafeteria, picnic site, and facilities for wheelchairs. Coach parties are welcome with reduced rates on request for parties of 20 or over.

Admission is £3.50 for adults, £2.25 for children, £3 for senior citizens, with free admission for children under-five.
