NESTON and Ellesmere Port MP Andrew Miller was at Oulton Park, in Cheshire, on Monday, to watch Vauxhall Motor's racing team in action during the British Touring Car Championship.

Alain Menu won the Sprint Race with his Renault Laguna and team mate Jason Plato won the Feature Race.

D.C. Cook's Tommy Rustard headed the independents sharing a fastest lap with Menu, completing an excellent day for Renault.

It is a close championship race, closest seen for years, with Rydell, Volvo, leading the drivers' championship, chased by Menu while Renault leads the manufacturers' championship followed by Volvo.

Vauxhall Vectra driver John Cleland became the only driver to score points in every round and the series now heads for Donington, on June 14, the track where Cleland scored his first win in the Vectra earlier this month.

Oulton park hosts Clubman's bikes on May 30 with the Return of the Tuscans on June 6.
