RESIDENTS in Milton Crescent may have to grit their teeth and pay up if they want a grit bin.
Following Winter weather they sent in a petition of 26 signatures asking for a grit bin to help elderly and disabled in slippery weather conditions.
They say the old Wirral Urban Council supplied grit bins but there have been none since Wirral became the highway authority in 1986.
Planning officers say Milton Crescent is a two-way residential road with 42 properties running in a loop off Gorsehill Road. It is hilly but the gradients are not considered excessive.
During Winter, Pensby Road, Whitfield Lane, Milner Road, Barnston Road, and Telegraph Road are gritted. Three grit bins are also located along Pensby Road within 500 metres of Milton Crescent.
So the feeling of planning officers is if the residents of Milton Crescent want a grit bin they can pay for it themselves. The cost is £150.
