TRANMERE Rovers' former Bolton striker, Scott Taylor, is looking forward to his first ever Nationwide League Division One game at Wanderers' brand new Reebok Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

Taylor was offered a new deal at Bolton, but turned it down so he could play first team football again, something he hadn't done since Bolton left their famous Burnden Park ground for their purpose-built home in nearby Horwich.

Said Scott: "I only ever played for the reserves at the Reebok, so it will be a new experience for me as well. It is a lovely, state-of-the-art stadium and it will be great to go back there.

"I hardly played recently at Bolton and was very frustrated, but now I've come here and we haven't been beaten and I've got three goals myself. I'm looking forward to playing Bolton and it might be a good time to play them as they've lost two on the spin."

Rovers' manager John Aldridge hoped to pick up three points from last night's re-arranged home game against Bradford to take them towards the middle of the table. He also hopes to continue their good run of form at the Reebok on Saturday.

Said Mr Aldridge: "We are playing with confidence now after winning four and drawing three. We don't look below us now, we are looking above us in the table. Our away form has been excellent, but we need to be more clinical at home. We also need to try not to give away sloppy goals like we did at Sheffield."

Mr Aldridge was disappointed with last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Sheffield United because of the defensive lapses. He said: "It was a point gained, but we didn't really deserve to drop any points at all."

Central defender John McGreal starts a four match ban on Saturday and Clint Hill is rated doubtful. Rovers may also be without Republic of Ireland international Alan Mahon, who is wanted for an Eire Under-21 European qualifier.

Meanwhile, Tranmere hope to give a debut to Icelandic trialist Agust Gylfason, who presently plays in Norway for SK Brann.

Gylfason, 27, is a utility player who has represented his country eight times and would be available for a free transfer under the Bosman ruling. He has played in Norway for four years and featured in the European Cup Winners' Cup quarter-final against Liverpool two seasons ago.

Said Mr Aldridge: "He's a very versatile player and he's just the sort we are looking for."

Gylfason says that he is looking forward to the challenge of English football: "I like English football because I like football with a lot of contact. In Norway, I play in defence but I like to play in midfield where I am surrounded by players so I can really get involved."

Tranmere hope to get clearance from the Icelandic FA for Gylfason to play in tonight's reserve match against West Brom at Prenton Park (7.15pm).
