A WHALE washed up dead on West Kirby beach was probably killed hitting rocks. A post mortem on the 22-foot creature found severe skull fractures. The body was taken to Leahurst veterinary college on the Chester High Road, Neston, for the post mortem.

THE charitable trust run by Everton chairman Peter Johnson is being investigated by the Charity Commission. Inquiries are believed to centre around the Johnson Foundation development of former derelict land at Valley Park Industrial Estate, Birkenhead. HAIR STYLIST Alan Moss, founder of the Alan Paul hair salon empire, has died aged 49 from a suspected heart attack. It is less than a year since his release from jail for conspiracy to defraud. The charges followed the collapse of the Alan Paul empire in Wirral and on Merseyside.

FUNERAL of Wirral man Simon Dawson, who was killed on his way home from a nightclub, has taken place in Cumbria, where the family originated. Two teenagers are remanded in custody charged with murdering Mr Dawson.
