From P.L. Baines:-

WEEK after week I have been reading in the Globe the abundance of letters on dogs fouling public places.

As a responsible dog owner myself, I agree that mess should be cleaned up by the owners, but I have to say that I was astounded when walking my dogs on our local field. I saw a huge sign attached to a council vehicle saying 'DOG WATCH'.

Two men sitting in the van watched me, even turning the van around as I walked my dogs! It amazes me that taxpayers' money is used in this way to pay the wages of two men!

It would be far more beneficial to society if men were employed to watch and protect the elderly, people's property etc.
