PLUCKED strings of the harp can be heard at St Andrew's United Reformed Church in Greenwood Road, Meols, on the evening of Monday, April 12.

Hoylake Chamber Concert Society, founded in1926, has its final recital of the season starting at 7.30pm and a large audience is expected.

Harpist Catherine Beynon will be joined by violinist Maria Cooper to play some Bach, Spohr, Saint Saens and Stravinsky.

Catherine has been playing the harp since the age of eight. She studied at the Royal College of Music in London and at a conservatoire in France before establishing herself as a chamber musician.

Maria studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and Paris. She is now freelancing. Both artists have made broadcasts and produced CDs.

Tickets for the Meols concert from Linghams Bookshop, West Kirby, and The Bookshop, Hoylake, or at the door on the night. Tickets £6 with concessions for the elderly, students, under 21s and disabled.
