MINTO House, the former private school in Hoylake, is closing as a nursing home, along with Arno House, Birkenhead, and a third home in Wallasey. They have all been sold by their parent company.
Matron Julie King, pictured with deputy Ruth Hannon and staff, tried an 11th-hour bid to buy Minto House and keep it as a nursing home but a Wirral developer now owns the property. Elderly residents are being moved out and the matron and her nursing staff are looking for jobs.
Next week's Hoylake and Birkenhead editions of the Globe will focus on the pensioners leaving Minto House and Arno House and ask: "What is happening to Hoylake?"
