ANOTHER Wirral woman is £2,000 better off this week, after scooping the jackpot in a local lottery.

The woman, who lives in Neston, and who wishes to remain anonymous, is the latest member of the fairer sex to taste a windfall success in the St John's Hospice in Wirral Weekly Lottery.

Each week throughout the year, the St John's Hospice lottery computer selects at random the 54 numbers which share the £3,000 weekly prize money - a top prize of £2,000, second prize of £500, third prize of £100, fourth prize of £50, 20 £10 winners and 30 £5 winners.

The winning numbers are published each week in the Wirral Globe.

Ann Howells, manager of Marks & Spencer's Birkenhead store, has presented a £3,000 cheque to St John's Hospice. "We were delighted to show Ann round the hospice to give her an insight into the work we do here," said Helen Crawford, fundraising manager at St John's.

Birkenhead Shopping Centre held its last ever quiz night, due to the closure of Birkenhead Police Club, its venue for the past decade. Rob Atkinson, representing the winners, Birkenhead Market, and quiz organiser Steve Moreland marked the occasion by presenting a £150 cheque to Helen Squires, of St John's Hospice.
