A MAN appeared at Liverpool Crown Court accused of a knife attack on a couple in Wirral.
Lance Melbourne pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder Philip Thompson in Merton Place, Birkenhead, on September 15, and wounding his wife, Philomena Thompson, with intent.
Mr Thompson has been left a paraplegic since the attack when he was stabbed in the spine.
Melbourne, 39, of Northbrook Close, Toxteth, was further remanded on bail with conditions including a £1,000 surety and not to enter Wirral, until his trial in the week beginning Tuesday, August 31.
