EVERTON and Tranmere FC owner Peter Johnson played a big role in Saturday's 'Match of the Day' when he gave his daughter's hand away in marriage.

Bride Katherine wed American fiance Raymond Eugeni in the parish church of St Saviours, Oxton. In a traditional white wedding, the bridegroom was kept waiting at the altar for Katherine and her millionaire father to arrive in a stretched limo.

Guests included theatre impresario Bill Kenwright, his partner actress Jenny Seagrove and current Everton football chairman Sir Phillip Carter.

The wedding adds speculation to what the hamper boss is going to do with his majority holdings in both Everton and Tranmere football clubs. Mr Johnson must divorce ownership of at least one club.

Speculation is that now his daughter has wed in their home town of Birkenhead, Mr Johnson will spend more time in Jersey, where he has a home, and less and less on Merseyside.
