FORT PERCH Rock, New Brighton, will be the temporary home of an artistic reminder of the moment, 60 years ago, when Cammell Laird's latest submarine Thetis left the Mersey for trials in Liverpool Bay.
Bebington artist Malcolm Kinnear has produced the limited print in aid of the Submariner's Association. It shows Thetis off Fort Perch Rock before it sank with the loss of 99 men. The print is available from The Rock, where there is also a Thetis exhibition.
Wirral author David Roberts, of Bebington, has just published a book, HMS Thetis, Secrets and Scandal, his follow-up to Thetis, The Admiralty Regrets by C. Warren and J. Benson, also published by Avid Publications, Bebington. The David Roberts book, £8.99 from good bookshops, offers an insight into the tragedy.
