RIDGEWAY High School pupil Ibraham Syed, aged 15, has beaten off hundreds of other hopeful applicants to secure a place on a prestigious study camp.
Held at York University during August, the Salters Chemistry Study Group is aimed at giving gifted pupils an opportunity for complex and detailed study.
Ibraham was one of only 50 out of 300 who were successful in their application.
Headteacher Angela Walsh said: "We are immensely proud of Ibraham's achievement. It is a credit both to him and the Science Department of Ridgeway High."
