HOYLAKE Lifeboat Lady of Hilbre, with cox Geoff Ormrod at the helm, went to the night rescue of shrimper Bonny Belle, which picked up a fishing net in the propeller.
Owner Raymond Latham, of Stavordale Road, Moreton, and crew-mate Evonne Lloyd, of Chadwick Street, Moreton, were forced to anchor the boat to avoid being swept away on a strong tide.
Coastguards at Seaforth alert to the potential danger of tides off North Wirral coast called Hoylake Lifeboat out.
Bonny Belle was off Leasowe Lighthouse and 'not brightly lit' said a lifeboat spokesman. Several flares were fired off and the rescue took place.
Mr Latham is reported to be a competent boathandler and was able to take a line allowing Bonny Belle to be towed safely back to its moorings at Hoylake.
