WIRRAL'S Skoda dealer Frank Brennan at Wallasey Car Centre has a pet charity close to many hearts - Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Frank says everyone taking their car in for a car wash at his Liscard premises, on Saturday, between 9am and 5pm, with all the day's car wash takings going to Wirral branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind.

There is a variety of programmes for a first clas car wash at Wallasey Car Centre Seaview Road. Remember the cleaner your car, the more the Guide Dogs benefit.Cars washed start from car washed for just £1, but the more programmes, the merrier for proceeds go to Guide Dogs for the Blind. Guide Dogs are not only close to Frank's heart but to his home in Wallasey.

The first guide dog movement started from New Brighton, thanks to one Miss M. F. Crooke. It was the Germans who first tried training guide dogs for blind before World War 1. Miss Crooke followed the lead here in the 1930's, first based at kennels in Wallasey then moving to the Cliff, a property in New Brighgton let by Wallasey Council. The Germans blitzwrecked the Cliff during WW11 (in fairness they probably didn't know what the building was.) However, the British bulldog spirit meant Guide Dogs for the Blind would continue into a national movement.

Frank Brennan of Wallasey Car Centre, said: "The Guide Dogs for the Blind is always something I've admired. It's incredible the trust the owners put in these guide dogs."
