PUPILS at St. Anselms co-ed prep school in Birkenhead will be told in no uncertain terms to 'Belt up' tomorrow (Thursday).
Merseyside Police launch a back-seat belt-up campaign at the school with 40 pupils being put in a big belt to show how many lives could be saved each year.
Every year, 40 people are killed by members of their family, or friends, for not checking that rear passengers are wearing seat belts.
A hard hitting Summer campaign is also being launched by the Government. In Wirral, Stephen Whitehouse, Senior Road Safety Officer, will spell out to children that wearing seat belts saves lives.
He says: "More and more children now travel to school in a car. It is essential to stress the importance of belting up in the back on every journey, however short."
