PYRAMID director Mel Glasby is playing 'Prince Charming' by offering his seat to Wirral Globe charity queen Queen Emma Povall (pictured).

Blonde Emma, of Birkenhead, was desperately seeking a throne for her carriage in the Heswall Festival parade on Saturday, July 3.

Following a story in the Globe, the boss of the Pyramids came to the damsel's rescue by offering the loan of an ornate throne used in promotions at the Birkenhead shopping centre.

Miss Wirral Globe Emma has devoted much of her reign to raising money for Claire House children's hospice, Clatterbridge.

Claire House will have a lorry dressed as a float and the throne for Emma is needed as the crowning glory.

Mel, of Heswall, has just celebrated his 40th birthday and didn't expect to be playing Prince Charming at his age!

"I am glad to offer our throne for Emma to help the hospice and support the local community where I live", said Mel.

Jill Maynard, publicity officer for Claire House, said: "We had a number of offers following the Globe story and thank everyone for their help."
