SENTENCE on a young Wirral man who slashed another youth has been adjourned because of a dispute over the facts.
Anthony Jones, aged 19, of Brooklands, Brook Street, Birkenhead, was due to be sentenced last Friday at Liverpool Crown Court.
At an earlier hearing he had pleaded guilty to wounding Neil Haydn during an incident in New Brighton.
But Judge Denis Clark heard on Friday that when interviewed by a probation officer to enable a pre-sentence report to be prepared, Jones claimed that he had acted in self defence.
Judge Clark adjourned the case until June 21, when Jones will be sentenced after evidence about the incident has been heard.
