From 'Irate Resident':-

MAY I first congratulate New Brighton on the huge success of its 23rd annual Wirral Show?

I would, however, like to ask the Rotary, Lions and Round Table Clubs of Wallasey, when they are organising any future events, to please spare a thought for the residents of Grove Road by planning travel/parking arrangements away from our area.

On the Sunday, every inch of Grove Road and side roads was taken up by Show visitors parking their cars. Moving vehicles bumper to bumper throughout the two days was a tragedy awaiting to happen should the Fire Service have been required - they could not have got through.

To add insult to injury, a car pulled up outside my gate. I assumed he was dropping off his family only to find he intended parking across the gateway. When I asked him to move on, he called me a b******. A lady and her daughter passing intervened, whereby they were told to F*** ***.

Another resident went to collect her daughters from the 3.30pm London train. Upon returning, she had to travel a half mile to park, lugging their cases back to Grove Road.

The proposed New Brighton Dome is not acceptable unless proper traffic/parking arrangements are to the forefront of planning.

I can assure any events organisers that diversions into Grove Road must cease as and from this year.

If forced to do so, we shall not hesitate to block off both ends of the road. As very high ratepayers, we deserve some consideration.
