BUMPER crowds are being attracted back to New Brighton helped by sunshine and school holidays. Now the funfair has returned as part of a 'Fun all Summer' campaign by New Wallasey Regeneration in conjunction with local businesses to rejuvenate the image of the former resort.

Chris Rycroft of Wallasey Regeneration said: "We are pleased to welcome the funfair as part of the package of events being offered in association with Wirral Council. All that remains now is for the public to enjoy the fun."

Described as a 'Traditional family funfair' - the attraction include a merry-go-round, big wheel, mini-roller coaster and a host of other spectacular rides.

The fair is being operated by David Wilkie, whose family have run funfairs and an amusement centre in New Brighton since the turn of the century.

Mr Wilkie is optimistic about the effect of the fair on the resort. "My family has been involved with New Brighton for many years, including some hard times. It's great to see the fortunes of the resort being turned around at last," he added.

The Funfair operates from 11am to 9pm daily to Sunday September 5, on the car park, next to the Marine Lake, New Brighton.

This Saturday there is also a pop concert in Vale Park, New Brighton, by Cheshire Cats. Admission £1.
