FUNDING for a trailblazing NHS pilot scheme at Leasowe Community Centre has delighted Wallasey MP Angela Eagle.
Wirral Community Trust, with Government funding, will operate the Personal Medical Service (PMS) Pilot, which has the backing of grassroots GPs, nurses and health professionals, and will develop new ways of delivering modern and accessible primary care services at a local level.
Said Angela Eagle: "The enthusiasm and commitment of Leasowe residents has generated ambitious plans to improve the quality of life for people in the area.
"The Government is supporting local people and providing the resources to ensure that plans can be realised."
She added: "Not only will patients benefit from improved accessibility, including a walk-in nurse practitioner service, but it will provide opportunities and incentives for professionals to use their skills to the full.
"Given the other plans that the Government is supporting in Leasowe, this seems to me another example of joined up government, where a co-ordinated approach is being used to address issues of social exclusion."
