BEBINGTON Central Library is open for business as normal!

That's the message librarian Julie Hougham wants to get across to customers who think the main library is closed due to building work.

It has, in fact, re-located to temporary premises at Bebington Civic Centre while a rolling programme of building work and asbestos removal is carried out in the main Library and Civic Centre building.

The adult library, music department and reference services are now housed in the former Handicapped Persons Unit and the children's department is operating from the Mayor's Parlour.

"There is a lot of confusion among our customers," said Julie. "Many of them think we are still closed, but I would like to assure them that we are still offering a core service and would be pleased to see them."

She added: "We are likely to be in our temporary accommodation until Christmas, but prefer to offer a service, albeit in rather cramped circumstances, rather than close altogether until the building work is complete."

Entrance to the temporary libraries is through the back doors near to the car park, although work on the foyer will soon be completed and customers will be able to use the normal Civic Centre entrance.
