ENGINEERS from Wirral Borough Council are working with the Wirral Association for Disability (WAD) on a scheme to lower kerbs to make it easier for people to cross the road.

Engineers are liaising with WAD to identify locations, mainly at the corners of roads, where people would most benefit from lowered kerbs to help them cross without having to negotiate onto and off the pavement.

The £25,000 scheme will allow the sections of pavement chosen to be lowered so that the kerb is flush with the road giving enormous benefits to the elderly, children, people with prams and pushchairs and those with disabilities.
