A TRIO of intrepid travellers will be taking a break from their studies next year to broaden their horizons.

The three students from Birkenhead Sixth Form College will be travelling to Africa, the Czech Republic and Germany to work before starting their degrees.

Kate Heydon, of Oxton, travels to Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa to work as a classroom assistant for six months. After working and studying abroad, Kate intends to study social sciences at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Gerard Hughes, of Claughton, will be spending five months in the Czech Republic before starting a History degree at Bangor University.

Elizabeth Penn, of Oxton, also intends to travel, in the Czech Republic or Slovakia, but will first spend some time working in Frankfurt.
