A WIRRAL man who is responsible for a NHS budget of more than £40 billion is celebrating becoming a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Mr Colin Reeves, a former student at Birkenhead School, who played cricket and hockey for Neston and was a member of Heswall Golf Club for a number of years, was assistant treasurer of Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council from 1976-80.
He and his wife, Christine, moved to Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, when he joined the NHS in 1984. The couple have two children, Helen and Georgina.
Mr Reeves - his mother, the late Mrs Isabelle Reeves, was a well-known Councillor in Ellesmere Port for more than 30 years and a Cheshire County Councillor for over 20 years - is now national Director of Finance of the NHS.
