WIRRAL West MP Stephen Hesford, whose constituency covers part of Birkenhead, has welcomed the recently published school admission apppeals code of practice. The code allows for admission appeals committees to be replaced by appeal panels entirely independent from the LEA and school governing bodies. Members will be limited to no more than five and the act allows joint appeal arrangements between LEAs and voluntary aided schools.
