WALLASEY-BASED Daryl Industries presented two local charities with cheques of £2,500 each following 12 months' fund raising.

In 1998 the company's charity committee raised cash exclusively for Wirral Children's Cancer Research Group and Wallasey Age Concern. The Age Concern cheque will help restore the Lonsdale Centre garden.

The Charity Committee worked throughout the year organising events and participating in the Wirral Coastal Walk, Liverpool half-marathon and arranging raffles and in-house lotteries. Every year Daryl selects two local charities from a list suggested by the employees, which will benefit children, the elderly and the infirm. The 1999 beneficiaries will be Claire House Children's Hospice and St John's Hospice, both at Clatterbridge.
