THE WIRRAL District FA Amateur Cup first round brought a mixed bag of results for the Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday League.

On the winning trail, Kevin Rhone fired four goals in Heygarth's 5-1 win over DW Fencing, while Bowies enjoyed an emphatic 6-0 win over WP Athletic. Richie Williams, 2, Jason McCort, Mark Savage and Rob Beaties scored.

In the Premier Division, a John Lucas strike gave Queens Park a solitary goal win over Brow, while Ship Inn's Richie Mearns fired a hat-trick in a 5-1 success at KEL. Dock returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Woodchurch, thanks to two goals from Ian Dunroe.

Division One leaders Bebington RAFA lost 4-1 at St Cecilias. Chris Thompson, 2, Gary Price and Mick Kinsella scored, enabling Pacific to take full advantage to go clear at the top. Seven Stiles had two hat-trick heroes in Paul Haddock and Mick Byrne in their 7-0 drubbing of Christies.
