CALDY need to beat bottom club St Mary's College Old Boys, on Saturday, to lift the Bromborough Paints Merseyside Competition title. Parkfield will finish top of Division Two if they succeed at home to Birkenhead St Mary's.

Caldy had to settle for a draw at Prestatyn, where Mark Gillespie made 51, and now lead Sutton by nine points. Sutton missed a great chance of going top as they lost at Prescot & Odyssey.

Irby are third after a 10 wickets win away to nine-man Port Sunlight. Mike Newman hit 55 not out. Parkonians lost at Wavertree, Matthew Hutchinson knocking 44. Parkfield saw off Rainhill by six wickets. John Costain top scored with 60. Rich Cotton and Ian Stead claimed four wickets each.

Birkenhead St Mary's remain third after an eight wickets margin against Mossley Hill, Mike Griffiths finishing with 4-28. Russ Williams claimed 6-21 for Eastham Bromborough in a 95 runs derby success at Tranmere Vics, for whom Martin Stacey took 7-53.
