From 'Concerned':-
IN REPLY to Jim O'Neil's letter (Mailbox, September 29) concerning parking on the pavement, I, too, have noticed a marked increase in this practice.
I 'phoned the Borough Engineer's Department, Traffic Management Division, and they confirmed that it is illegal.
I am very concerned about the danger this practice causes, especially to anyone pushing a pram or wheelchair. I also wonder what it costs for repairs to pavements - and compensation to people who trip on them - and who pays the bill?
Certainly not the motorists who cause the damage.
