CARLSBERG West Cheshire League Division Three side Shaftesbury produced the upset of the day in the Cheshire Amateur Cup, on Saturday, when they went to Division One side Capenhurst and won 4-2, with goals from Robbie Stobbart, 2, Ian Crawford and Paul Hamil.

Third Division Willaston also did well. Despite the handicap of losing goalkeeper Paul Gilmore with a broken leg, full-back Mark Humphries took over between the sticks and helped his side to a 7-2 win over Chester & District League leaders Blacon Athletic. Steve Cawley and Mick Williams led the way with double strikes, assisted by efforts from Gary Forshaw, Kev Porter and Clive Meakin.

Cammell Laird (Ken Burgess, 2, Neil Larkin, Faddi Hanna) powered to a 4-1 win against Mid-Cheshire side Grove United, while Mersey Royal (Chris McGin, John Thompson, Craig Cartwright and Dave Carrington) won 4-0 against Atlantic.

Nicky Dillon and Jamie Griffiths fired hat-tricks as Heswall turned on the style, overwhelming Old Alts 9-1, while in the all-Division One clash, Stork (Alan Kline, Paul Wiggins, Simon Brammer and Ian Dunroe) beat Newton 4-0.

An Andy Graham brace helped West Kirby to a 6-1 victory over Rolls Royce, but Mallaby (Stan Dobbs, 2, Colin Moffatt, Matt Horton) went down by the odd goal in nine to St Werburgh's, who had Eddie Shields, 2, Dave Cooke, Simon Hill and Andy Foden on target.

Poulton Victoria are back on top of the West Cheshire League Division One table after a 3-0 victory over Christleton on Saturday. Paul Atherton's inch perfect free-kick was added to after the break by player-manager Chris Camden and Gary Reay.

Second place Ashville (Graham Jones penalty, Nick Welton) conceded two goals for the first time this season as they shared a 2-2 draw with Mallaby (Kevin Lewis, 2).
