CALDY kept their unbeaten record, but Birkenhead Park and Oldershaw suffered first defeats in North West One League matches at the weekend.

The Paton Field outfit ran in six tries against Aspull to finish 37-0 to the good. Touch downs were credited to Duncan Hendry, Chris Young, Peter Wallace, Matt Penington, Martin Keenaghan and Graham Birch. Peter Hart kicked two goals and a penalty.

Birkenhead were completely out of touch against an efficient Stockport and fell 3-43. Jason Gilbert kicked a penalty, but Park were second best.

Oldershaw, too, found it hard against Kirby Lonsdale, losing 12-23. Willy Gardner kicked four penalties.

North West Three life is not easy for Wallasey. It was defeat again this time at the hands of Warrington. Carl Hughes gained a try and Kevin Parker a penalty as it finished 8-21.

Wirral's South Lancashire/Cheshire League clash against Dukinfield was called off because the opposition could not field a recognised front row.

Prenton beat Sefton 13-10 with Steve Roberts gaining all the points with a try, conversion and two penalties.

Anselmians were happy with a 17-13 success at Congleton where Peter Collins, Steve Roberts and Dylan Roberts touched down. James Taylor goaled once.

Hoylake whipped Oldershaw seconds 65-0 in a friendly. There were 11 tries in all with Trevor Boult gaining three of them and Dan Baldock and Ben Flint a brace each.

Birkenhead Park and Caldy meet in a derby at the upper park on Saturday. There is a player re-union lunch and tickets are available for the pre-match get together. The meal is at 1pm, the kick-off 3pm, and the televised Rugby World Cup international between England and New Zealand is at 5pm.

Oldershaw visit Aspull.

Meanwhile Cheshire Under-18 prepared for their Northern Group programme with a 22-15 success against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham. They scored three tries, two penalties and a conversion.
