NEW Brighton slipped to their first defeat of the season, on Saturday, losing 20-13 away to Jewsons National League Two newcomers Bedford Athletic.

The Blues must now pick themselves up for Saturday's 'derby' with Liverpool St Helens at Reeds Lane.

The kick-off has been brought forward to 2.30pm in order that Wirral rugby fans miss none of the action - and can then watch England v New Zealand Rugby World Cup clash in a marquee at Reeds Lane.

There will be a big screen and admission is free to everyone attending the New Brighton match. Incidentally, look out for Wirral's Austin Healey in the England team.

The former St Anselm's pupil starred in Saturday's World Cup victory over Italy.
