THE newly renovated Newton Village Hall was re-opened on Saturday by local MP Stephen Hesford. Having undergone several alterations, the Hall can now boast a new meeting room, a new roof and an improved heating system, after successfully obtaining lottery funding of nearly £90,000. Said Mr Hesford: "Community halls are a vital resource in this area, providing a home for local groups, including the Scouts, Townswomen's Guild and keep fit clubs. It is due to the hard work of the dedicated committee that their bid, which I was happy to support, was successful and now the Hall will continue to be used for many more years to come."
