MAYOR of Wirral Coun Hugh Lloyd went over the top to draw attention to the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust by abseiling down Wallasey Town Hall, on Sunday. More than 60 brave volunteers abseiled the 156-foot drop to raise money for the Trust. The final total should hit around £5,000. Donna Hurren, Area Manager for the Trust, said: "It went really well and we hope to stage it again next year. We are looking for other venues in the area which are over 100 feet high to use." The Mayor said the abseil had gone well, even though some councillors had offered to sponsor him if the rope broke! Said Councillor Lloyd: "I managed to go in between showers and was delighted with the way it went."
