BULLYING in Wirral schools comes under the spotlight at an important meeting this week.

Governors, including headteachers, teachers and staff governors at schools throughout the peninsula are being urged to attend what is described as "an important meeting."

It is being called by the influential Wirral Governors' Forum - the voice for local school governors - and chairman Les Stewart wants to alert every single member so they can learn more about the subject.

Wirral Local Education Authority (LEA) is shortly to launch a campaign against bullying, against which governing bodies already have to ensure that their school operates an active policy.

Valerie Bezag, of the University of Newcastle & Gateshead Education Authority and a leading authority on the subject, will be guest speaker at the meeting, to be held at the Professional Development Centre, tomorrow (Thursday, October 14) at 6.30pm.
