WALLASEY MP Angela Eagle joined Paymaster General Dawn Primarolo in London to launch the Working Families Tax Credit last week.
Angela, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Social Security, said the system should mean that any family with a full-time worker now has a guaranteed income of £200 a week, or £10,000 a year.
Speaking from Whitehall, she said: "Too many children grow up in poverty, despite the fact that they have at least one parent in work. Low wages and an unhelpful tax structure mean many working people take home too little."
